Bipolar stepper motors can be operated in full, half, quarter, and eighth-step modes using the Allegro Microsystems A4983SETTR-T, a DEMOS microstepping driver with translator and overcurrent protection. It is capable of up to 35 V and 2 A of output drive. The general application circuit for the A4983SETTR-T is displayed here.:

1. Power Supply: The load supply voltage (MOT) should be connected to pin 28, and the logic supply voltage (VDD) should be connected to pin 3. The ground pin is pin 1. VDD can typically range from 3 to 5.5V, while MOT can be up to 35V.

2. Motor Connections: Pins 15, 18, 23, and 26 (OUT1A, OUT1B, OUT2A, OUT2B) connect to the two coils of the bipolar stepper motor.

3. Logic Inputs: Pin 5 (STEP) is the step clock input. A rising edge on this input will advance the motor one increment. Pin 4 (DIR) is the direction control input. A high level will cause forward stepping, and a low level will cause reverse stepping.

4. Microstepping Control Inputs: Pins 6, 7, and 8 (MS1, MS2, MS3) are logic inputs that select the current decay mode and step mode.
